In the peaceful village of Sondrio, Italy, in the foothills of the Alps, government officials and townspeople alike gathered to honor Prem Rawat’s efforts to encourage world peace: a peace that begins with each individual. On the invitation of the Sondrio Town Hall and under the patronage of the Province of Sondrio, the Lombardy Region, and the Ministry of Justice, Prem Rawat arrived in this northern city on June 22, 2010. In a private meeting of the Sondrio City Council, officials graciously awarded him the title “Ambassador of Peace in the World” and presented him with a symbolic gift from the nearby city of Tirano as well as a plaque from Lombardy adorned with the official symbol of the region, the Camuna Rose

Hartford Fine Art Presents SUMMER SALON 2010 June, July August 2010 The SUMMER SALON is an exhibition featuring original paintings by Connecticut Artists. The walls are hung with a variety of styles and techniques to provide all viewers with a large selection of works to enjoy. This show features three artists, one each month that will have an entire wall to themselves. June features Robert Noreika, July Shauna Shane and August Margaret Dean. FEATURED ARTISTS JULY: Working in a variety of mediums including watercolor, oil, and pastel, Shauna's paintings are saturated with light and color. Her paintings of the landscape, still life, animals and the figure reflect solid academic training as well as her ability to communicate the energy and the unique atmosphere of a scene. Shauna's work will be featured next month. In 2003 the Somers Cultural Commission presented the first "Artists in the Garden" tour, with a focus on gardeners as artists using the landscape as canvas. The tour this year gives "Artists in the Garden" double entendre, with plein air artists in the gardens painting the works of artistic gardeners.
